What's Bugging You? ATC's

Beetles have an amazing variety of markings.  I collaged these images over layered Gelli Plate prints to make insect Artist's Trading Cards:

Two New Collages

This collage, which started as a maroon velvet photo mat rectangle, sat half-finished for about two years.

Red and orange together... pardon the flash reflex off of the gloss gel medium.

A Few More Collage Pieces

One collage post card, three Artist's Trading Cards.

Playing Cards Collage

Today's in-coming mail sparked an idea for cutting up business envelopes and adding Washi tape to collage onto playing cards.  Ephemera received from other people may sit in a pile on the desk for a while, when all of a sudden- it begs to play and to be passed along.  (Do you see anything you sent me?)

Flamingo Power

For a current mail art group swap I made four and an extra post card,  over-printing facts on the pictures to make them "educational fun."

Someone recently sent me a generous packet of pink papers.  These were put to good use making two collage post cards this afternoon.  I will have to decide which post card to send in.

Quick ATC's

I suppose that many mail artists have a pile or two (or more?) of magazine clippings, snippets, scraps and ephemera received from others.  Today I decided to use paper pieces tucked into the pouches of several pocket letters which people sent to me over the past two years.  Already cut to ATC size, they became the backgrounds for some minimal-decision collages.  After adding stickers and junk mail bits, I was actually surprised by how quickly they came together, and hope future swappers will like them.

Mid-Summer Blooms

August's garden colors can scarcely be described, a veritable feast for the eyes.  A picture paints a thousand words?

Deli Waxed Paper

When I saw what can be done with
Deli Waxed Papers, I just had to order a box.
After using these sheets to wipe off my brayer
during Gelli Plate printing, they became backgrounds for collaged post cards.  Rubber stamped images, embossing, or tissue paper layers were added.
