Fun With Four by Four's

Here are twenty 4-inch square collaged pages made up from one full-sized sheet of Poster Board.

First I covered it with two acrylic paint colors: turquoise and pink.  Then I added rubber stamped images.

After cutting the full sheet into 4" squares, I added some collage.  So much fun, so easy to do!  The pages can stand alone, be made into a booklet or be made into note cards.

Not A Creature Was Stirring except for...

Dec. 25, 2022

Today the highway was a white snowy path with ruts where the few cars dared to drive.  But- along came a buggy, and I'm guessing the horse had better traction than the cars.

STRIPS of COLOR

Almost Christmas.  Almost the end  of this year and the beginning of the New one.

Here are some collages I made with trimmings from photo's I took at a quilt show.  I used some photo matt scraps for backgrounds, and this is what I ended up with:

The  colorful parts are glimpses of the high ceiling in the large gymnasium where a wonderful quilt show was being exhibited.  The lighting so high above created unexpected results.

Time for Purple art

I hardly ever make purple art.  The backgrounds were made months ago (I think it was with ink) and I set them aside.  But these three pieces are finally finished.

ID this flower????

Anyone know what this plant is called?  It basically took over my flower garden.  The foliage is especially stunning this Autumn...

Peace and Tranquility

by hhc

During these challenging times, it helps to be able to have a measure of peace and tranquility. This picture, taken somewhere near here, says both to me.  It's a real place.  Just green ferns, trees, and sunlight.  And if you wait long enough, you might see some deer!  Of course I was just passing through, so couldn't linger.  But, I have the picture :)

FOOD IS ART?

Beet Flower

Sometimes food prompts me to grab my camera.  This beet became a flower as I peeled back the outer skin...  and then it became part of a salad.

Beets, carrot greens, kale

And this lovely leaf lettuce, picked today before our second frost hits, was the ONLY seed to grow out of what were essentially three rows planted.  Happy supper!

Lesson learned:

throw out unused seeds, even if packets are unopened.

Abstract Art with Drip & Drag Paint Technique Fun

Drip & Drag Paint Project - by hhc

I seem to have more fun making art when I'm not trying so hard.  The paint pushing method was SO delightful, it was easy to create art with that technique.

This larger piece designed itself.  I just added collage layers and  drew a few lines,  Easy Fun!!!

Each person sees something different in art, but I "saw" a weary laundry woman hanging up towels...with a blue Big Bird watching over her shoulder...

One Nation, under God...

What a terrible day it was, 21 years ago.  Most of us remember where we were when the networks broke the story.  Disbelief and shock.  Destruction in slow motion.  And our hearts broke...

hhc
Our hearts, our nation, will never be the same.  Difficult to think about, impossible to forget.

Tuesday Morning Photo Op

During my early morning walkabout I saw a snail on the sidewalk.  Then found a Bluejay feather.  They both were good subjects for a little picture-taking session.

Playing Wiith The Inks Again :)

I just can't stop being fascinated by the vivid colors of different types of inks:

These will probably be used as folded mailers, unless I decide to make ATC's or Post Cards with them.  So much fun!!!

GROWTH???

Who says you have to have dirt to grow?

This one was hidden under a newer package of carrots in the 'fridge...

Wherever you are, put down roots???

Rhododendron Blossoms - Close-up

 I love Rhododendron Blossoms.

I guess that's why I take so many pictures of them each Spring and Summer.

Every Spring, every year I marvel at how beautiful the flowers are after a long cold white winter.  Here are some early-blooming favorites on a rainy Spring day:
