Three Quirky Birdhouse Post Cards

Here's my first of three attempts
at this themed design.

And the other two:

Too late for the group swap,
'll do a one-on-one swap
with a mail art friend who also
missed the swap opportunity :)

Mini Books from Masterboards

One of my mail art friends recently
sent me a few
lovely collaged 3" squares
and introduced me to
Mini-Books from Masterboards.

Before I reciprocated, I viewed
the three-part YouTubes on the topic.

Next, I gathered some papers,
ephemera, stickers and postage stamps.

Collaged Masterboard 1 possible layout
This afternoon I really had fun
making two collage sheets
starting with full-sheet
scrapbooking papers.

Collaged Masterboard 2 possible layout
I added more images, bits of
sheet music copied on
coffee-dyed paper, and
snippets of other scrapbook papers.

Then I cut the squares apart, and
for some unexplained reason
I only ended up with nine
3" squares out of each sheet.
Math-challenged here :(

Finally I finished the squares
with magazine pictures,
rubber stamped images and stickers,
then scuffed the edges
of each square with a brown
cats eye ink pad.

To finish them I will add
sayings, poems or
observations on the backs.

I will probably punch a hole
in the upper left corner of each square
that I keep for myself, and then
use a cord or ribbon to keep them all together.

SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Bedraggled Luna Moth

This lovely moth was clinging to a fence
in a parking lot recently.
I just had to take a picture, as it was only
the third such moth I've seen in over ten years.

Then it flew to the wall.

And Yet More Red Black White Art

I just couldn't stop making Red/Black/White art.
Here are a few more pieces:

Artist Trading Card

2+1/2" Art Square
White acrylic paint was dripped down from one edge of the card(s).  I used food container caps to make white rings.
Rubberstamps filled in, and black pen lines too.

In Love With Rhododendron

These clusters of blossoms remind me
of cheerleaders' pom-poms.

Decorative Napkin Art

Four of these are for an online mail art swap.
I added 3 - 5 collage elements to each one.

An Art Session, Finally!!! Farm-themed ATC's & RBW

Today I finished up postcards for two active mail art group swaps:

OLD MACDONALD HAD A FARM

I used copies of photographs I took
during a barn-admiring phase,
and collaged vintage animal images
over them with perhaps a little humor.

RED, BLACK, WHITE
(Okay, I went a little overboard...
used acrylic paints, rubber stamps,
styrofoam cylinder "stamp," paint pen, marker
and stickers)

Loving Hands

Someone is holding us
after we hit the window
and fear that we will
never fly again.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak
When I heard the "thunk" against the glass,
I ran out and
combed through the thick garden foliage.
There he was, stunned.
I hate it when that happens...

I carefully picked him up, but
when I set him on the lawn he didn't respond.

I held him gently, loosely for a while,
asking for a miracle
until he finally, suddenly
pushed off and flew away into the tree tops.

What gorgeous birds...
Oh, that we had wings to fly...

Hang On...

There is always HOPE
if we know where to look for it.

STEADY...

swap art by honi
When we are tossed about and battered
by the wild waves of adversity,
we need a strong and steady ROCK
on which to stand.

Purple and Blue

refreshing, bloom despite the gloom.

At This Time...

Swap art by hhc

My heart is breaking-
for this country,
for our world.
We need healing.
We need wisdom.
We need deliverance.
The angels are weeping.
God help us.
